By subway: from Manhattan, take the A train, stop at Rockaway Blvd and walk North – but note it’s NOT the Rockaway Ave stop, it’s the Blvd, which comes after. Another option: take the J or Z train, stop at 104th St and walk South.
By car: from Manhattan, take the Midtown Tunnel, you’ll get out on the Long Island Expressway (LIE), make a right into Van Wyck Expressway and another right into Atlantic Avenue. Then just drive to the corner of 102nd St. Bada bing, bada boom!
If you’re coming from certain parts of Brooklyn: go East on Atlantic Avenue all the way or take the LIE going East and take the Van Wyck Expressway exit.
If you’re coming from Queens/Long Island: LIE and take the Van Wyck Expressway or Woodhaven Blvd exit.
If you’re arriving at the JFK airport: get a cab, have him take the Van Wick Expressway going to Manhattan and make a left on Atlantic Avenue. For the more cost conscious, take the Airtrain at JFK ($7, cha ching!) to Howard Beach station and then the A train to the Rockaway Blvd stop and walk North.
P.S.: you can also take the Woodhaven Blvd exit instead of Van Wyck Expressway, it’s faster, but most people who do that the first time get lost.
